Bertille Verlaine is a french artist who doesn’t like to be categorized.
She developed her love for all aspects of creativity while studying at the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, from which she graduated from in 2005.
Bertille works as textile designer, illustrator and costume designer for fashion industry, leather goods, theater, posters, landscape design…
She gained experience in luxury industry during her 6 first professional years, working for the beautiful fashion house Kenzo where she designed a lot of all-over prints and illustrations, including the last logo of the company.
She is working with a lot of mediums as paint, graphite, pens, paper cut, watercolor paint, ink and digital media. She is always trying, searching, mixing and experimenting new things with her hands and what she finds.
Her common thread in commissioned or personal work is the equilibrium between lines and plain forms, confrontation of black with colors, light with shadows.
Her favorite themes are nature and plants, animals, landcapes and abstraction.
Her clients were/are the Spoutnick Company, Kookaï, Kenzo, the Orten Company, Etam lingerie, Mamix…
After years of working for clients, she aims to develop her own world of illustrations.
She lives and works in Montreuil, near Paris, France.
