Maria Olga Vlachou - POSTFOLK

Maria Olga was born in Athens, Greece with studies in Graphic Design and Interior decoration. As a multidisciplinary designer – artist she is constantly inspired by digital art, heritage culture, architecture, music, people, and tradition.

POSTFOLK it’s her Art project– a handcrafted digital embroidery – inspired by the core archetypes, symbols, universal motifs of what is known as traditional folk embroidery. Folk embroidery was always intended to bring joy and abundance to domestic life, and so Maria Olga has delved into the past and reworked this traditional artistry for the modern-digital age.

Every little stitch is turned to pixel by pixel, to create a new digital language, yet with the same care and affection employed by the traditional artisans that POSTFOLK seeks to celebrate. POSTFOLK uses flamboyant color combinations, heritage global motifs and symbols in a completely different context .

This unique POSTFOLK -digital embroidery- art print collection called #ultrasounds_ and its scope is to “echograph” visually circles of life vibrations with folk symbols as doted images but with frequencies above the range of human seeing. ( a little bit of magic !)
