Avantika Tyagi is a visual artist based in Delhi, India, whose research-driven practice explores the intersections of mythology, cultural memory, identity and the feminine. Drawing inspiration from ancient Indian texts, she reinterprets timeless narratives through a contemporary visual language, treating mythology as a living source of meaning rather than a fixed historical account.
Working primarily with acrylics, fountain pen and acrylic ink, Avantika creates richly layered paintings where recurring motifs, such as the fish from the Matsya Purana, become symbols of transformation, continuity and origin. Her work connects inherited stories with contemporary experience, inviting viewers to reflect on identity, femininity and the enduring power of cultural narratives. Follow Avantika on Instagram
